Scholarship Information
January 2008
Dear Texas High School Counselor:
The Texas Telephone Association Foundation (TTAF), a non-profit, philanthropic organization founded to help further the understanding of telephony and advance telecommunications as a career choice, will award five, four-year scholarships, in the amount of $1,500 per year to students entering college for the 2008-2009 school year.
The TTAF Scholarship Committee is soliciting applications from each high school in the state. Due to our desire to closely review every submitted application, each high school counselor is being asked to forward to the TTAF two (2) qualified potential recipients. The Scholarship Committee will be making its selections only from those applicants who meet the following criteria:
- U.S. Citizen;
- student graduating from a Texas high school no later than June 2008;
- student possessing a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
(out of a possible 4.0);
- student planning to attend a Texas college or university by the Fall of 2008;
- and a completed application postmarked no later than March 14, 2008, including a current transcript and letter of acceptance from a Texas college or university if student has been accepted.
- and, a copy of student’s SAR (Student Aid Report).
Please note--special consideration will be given to students who will be pursuing a college degree in fields of study which are of particular interest to telecommunications (such as math, business, engineering, and computer science). The courses of study in high school, extra-curricular/civic activities and demonstrated leadership will also be considered. In addition, special consideration will be given to students who have established financial need.
In March, our TTA Foundation Scholarship Committee will select five finalists to receive four-year scholarships in the amount of $1500 per year.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by late April. Any questions regarding the scholarship application should be directed to Richard Walters at the TTAF office: richardwalters@tta.org or 512-472-1187.
